Mohs is a specialized technique where the cancer is removed in our office and the tissue is processed while you wait. Then Dr. Moore can interpret (read) the pathology to see if all the cancer is removed. If the cancer has roots like a tree extending beyond what can be seen, then another stage of removal can be performed right then. This process is repeated until all of the cancer is removed. Only when we determine the cancer is all out do we put sutures in.
You then go home with the assurance the cancer is out. The Mohs technique offers up to a 99% cure rate. In addition, the entire procedure is performed in the comfort of our office. The process is completed in just a few hours usually. Most people even drive themselves to and from the office on the procedure day.
